Crooked Letter will be located on a 2 acre plot. The location is zoned A-1 Agricultural. We went to the planing commission to request a special exception for land use. This was approved by all 11 on the board. According to state law people within 500ft of the property line have to be notified. This was about 15 people. We had 2 show up to oppose at the first hearing. They were unable to give a valid reason as to why we should not be allowed to build on our private property. To the east of the 2 acres is a 17 acre plot of land that is not being used, and is not opposed. To the south is a 10 acre field with a house on the far side next to the road, and is not opposed. To the north is a 2 acre plot with a house that is very happy to have a brewery next to them, and is not opposed. Next to this acreage, and to the west is a 13 acre plot of land, owned by Paul and Wanda, and we are not opposed! So, the brewery really is out in the middle of land not close to anyone. One person at the meeting submitted a written appeal to the board of supervisors. It stated something along the lines of “Not enough people were notified, because of the large tracts of land.” So we are going back to the board for this issue, two months after our initial Planning Commission Approval!! It should be entertaining, and we encourage all to come out, as we’ll need lots of shoulders to cry on if we are not Approved.

Appeal Hearing information is available on Crooked Letter Brewery’s Facebook Page or on Crooked Letter Brewery’s Facebook Event Page for the Appeal Hearing

If you are able to attend, please do so to show Crooked Letter your support. Citizen’s support at the hearing will help them win the appeal hearing and move forward with their plans.
