Brew University Style Profile: India Pale Ale

    • Sunday, August 19,2012
    • 5 PM — 7 PM
    • Keg & Barrel (Hattiesburg)

Join Raise Your Pints at the Keg and Barrel on Sunday, August 19th at 5pm for Brew University’s first style profile session, featuring India Pale Ale. Class will consist of a thorough investigation of IPA, covering everything from origins and myths surrounding the style, to all the different ways hops can be crammed into your brew. Throughout the class we’ll be engaging our mouths and minds with five 4oz samples of several IPA’s, from balanced historical versions to aggressive modern hop bombs.

During cla ss we’ll discuss:
The History — What’s the story behind IPA, and how did it get where it is today?
The Specifics — What makes an IPA different from a pale ale, pilsner or stout?
The Tasting — Why does this IPA taste like pine cones, and that one taste like pineapple juice?
The Pairing — What foods bring out the best in my IPA and vice versa?

Cost is $15 and includes the talk, beer samples, and a handout to take home. Designated drivers are welcome to attend free of charge. Sign up by joining the event right here on Facebook.

All proceeds from this event go to Raise Your Pints, the organization dedicated to bringing a world-class beer culture to Mississippi.
