KILN, Miss. — Beer samples. Brewery tours. Live music. Lip-smacking barbecue.
All four will be available Friday, Sept. 7, when the Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company launches its First Friday charitable event.
Woof woof. Proceeds from the event benefit the Hancock County Animal Shelter.
“The community has helped support us over the years, and we want to return the favor,” said Lazy Magnolia owner and brew master Leslie Henderson.First Fridays will be held on the first Friday of every month from 5 to 8 p.m. starting in September. A new Lazy Magnolia pint glass design and a new Lazy Magnolia beer will both be unveiled at First Fridays.
“In September, we will release our new Mississippi Nectar,” said Henderson. “It’s a delicious oak-aged wine made with 100 percent Mississippi honey.”
The Sept. 7 event features music by Rosco Bandana and food from Daddy’s BBQ. Visitors are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets.A $10 fee is required to attend the charitable tour and tasting event, which includes the new pint glass and beer samples. No reservation is needed.
The Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company was established in 2005 as Mississippi’s first and only post-prohibition brewery. Located adjacent to the Stennis International Airport in Kiln, Miss., the family-owned business brewed approximately 13,500 barrels of beer in 2011.

Lazy Magnolia will host a series of events featuring music, food and beer on the first Friday of each month. The first event is scheduled for September 7 from 5pm to 8pm.
